Modified Novice Rules

This class has Spec Gearing, Battery and Tire requirements

Racers With two heat races with a average top 15 lap time of 7.6 seconds or less will be required to advance from Novice Class.




Chassis: 1 Modified

RTR Traxxas Modified, Traxxas Part # 104354-74

 All chassis parts are to remain stock with factory wheelbase 13.1in


Body: 

the only legal body is  traxxas #10411  a factor body and interior, custom paint allowed car numbers must be displayed on both sides of the car and roof.

Nose tie-down permitted

Air cleaner can be removed for transponder mount

No other body modifications permitted


Suspension: 

All suspension parts Need to remain stock as it comes out of the box


Shocks: 

Factory equipped shocks only permitted.

Any shock oil and weight can be used.


Springs: 

Traxxas factory equipped springs only. 1.6 blue 


Steering: 

the only servo saver allowed is Traxxas# 3744. Pinning the servo savor is not permitted.


Servo: 

Traxxas# 2075R permitted


Electronics: 

Traxxas# 3383 BL-2s ESC, 3384 BL-2s™ Brushless motor,


BATTERY: 

only legal battery is SMC 5250-2SPWR  5200mAh-50C-7.4V 100% LCO Hardcase pack, MAX VOLTAGE CHARGED 8.4 VOLTS.


Transmitter/Receiver: 

Traxxas TQ™ 2.4 GHz (2-channel) only


Transmission: 

Factory Equipped Transmission permitted. Traxxas# 9495


Tires:

Stock Traxxas Slash modified tires only. Two fronts and two rears required on the car, but can be in any configuration.

Differential oils: 

 Any differential oil is permitted.







Chassis: 2 Mudboss


  • TRAXXAS 2wd Slash or Raptor chassis, no LCG chassis

  • Original MFG suspension parts only,Traxxas HD parts are Permitted, no other parts allowed (such as from RPM)

  • Original MFG chassis parts only,Traxxas HD Parts are permitted, no aftermarket hop-ups, no optional aluminum parts

  • Front bumper, right side bumper and front body post brace must be removed

  • Left side and rear bumpers can also be removed (if desired); rear RPM bumper is allowed

  • TRAXXAS front optional bumper (TRA2735) can be used if angled down

  • Alterations to the chassis or modification to drivetrain/suspension components is not allowed

  • Electronics (receiver, ESC & transponder) must be installed within chassis surface

  • Battery brace can be trimmed to allow different LiPo battery wire configurations MudBoss Rules Rev.0 02/4/24 2

Electronics:

  • Traxxas 12t brushed motor and XL5 ESC OR Traxxas BL-2S Brushless Power System

  • Optional 30mm motor fan allowed

  • Open gearing: any Traxxas spur gear, any pinion allowed

  • Servo must comply with Salvas Mudboss rules: TRX2075, optionally with Savox metal gears; SAVOX SC0252MG

  • Original TRAXXAS plastic servo saver / bell crank or solid servo horn allowed; servo saver can be immobilized

  • Any solid servo horn and servo steering rod can be used.

  • 2-cell 7.4v LiPo battery with a maximum of 5200mah and 50c, with external plug (no bullets)

  • No overcharging batteries, MAXIMUM charge voltage of 8.42v

Adjustments:

  • Any original Traxxas Slash bearings can be replaced by any type/brand of bearings

  • No modifications can be made to the transmission’s case (i.e., to allow a bigger gear ratio)

  • The gear cover must be removed if asked

  • The only adjustments allowed to the car are those allowed by the original MFG components of the car

  • You are allowed to use any combination of black and gray Traxxas wheel hexes in any position

  • Transmission functionality rule: motor cannot spin while turning slowly one rear wheel a full turn

  • No Trassas Magnum 272R transmissions or parts allowed. Only legal transmission is Traxxas 272 with original gears

  • Traxxas Slash *STEEL* transmission gears only; plastic gears not allowed

  • Adding weight is not allowed except for the specific purpose of wheel balancing

Suspension:

  • Traxxas 2WD plastic shocks only (grey or black version), fronts in front, rears in rear

  • Original rear (TRAXXAS 5858) and front springs (TRAXXAS 5857) only

  • Front springs may be shortened by no more than five rounds on ONE end

  • The shock’s travel may be shortened with internal shims

  • Front shocks may only use the stock front shafts, rear shocks may only use the stock rear shafts

  • Original pistons from kit only (original 1,2 or 3 hole), no modifications can be made to them

  • No front bump stop suspension, a single original blue bump stop can optionally be used per rear shock

  • No shimming to reduce slop in suspension parts allowed

  • All suspension parts (such as A-Arms) must remain in original positions it was designed for (no swapping left to right)

  • Rear camber links must remain in original height position; upper hole on shock tower not allowed

Bodies:

  • Mudboss bodies only, Salvas or copy, but they must meet standard Salvas Mudboss body dimensions and appear to be a Salvas body from three feet away

  • Any minor modification to the body must be approved before being allowed.

  • The optional "NEXTGEN" inner panel is allowed and must be installed following the procedures posted on Facebook/YouTube https://tinyurl.com/3yjzashs  The NEXTGEN inner panel rear spoiler must be mounted flat on the rear portion of the body and have a max of 1/2 inch above it

  • Bodies may be painted or wrapped, all bodies must be painted or wrapped to be legal for racing. Only the decking and rear spoiler may be left clear. Clear bodies will not be allowed

  • No additional drilling to lighten the body. Stainless steel screws, nylon screws or pop rivets may be used to fasten the body together.

Tires:

  • Any original TRAXXAS rubber tire / wheel / inserts (BFG / KUMHO / SPEC) any wheel combination of the SAME TIRE TYPE (ie.4 fronts, 4 rears, 3 front 1 rear…) *“S1” compound ALLOWED*

  • Traxxas front and rear offset rims may be used in any combination and position on the vehicle

  • Primary tread pattern must be visible across the width of each tire

Smokey Yunick Rule: if the rules don't say you can do it, you cannot do it. 


ALL OTHER PARTS ARE TO REMAIN BOX STOCK IF ITS NOT COVERED IN THE RULES CONSIDER IT ILLEGAL.
