Midwest Modified Rules

10th scale 2WD off-road buggy-based carbon fiber or similar material chassis

Midwest Modified body, 1.5” maximum rear spoiler

Maximum 10.5T 2-pole 540 sensored brushless motor

ESC in binky mode or not capable of ESC timing advance


Intent

All PWR Dirt Oval Series races will run under the current rules at the time of the race. Class rules are a work in progress and will be amended as needed. First and foremost, it is the SPIRIT of these rules the completely describe what you can do in this class. If it doesn’t say you can, assume that you cannot.


Chassis
  • Any 1/10th scale buggy chassis or carbon fiber chassis by Custom Works, GFRP, 57 Designs, Triple P, etc.

  • Mid and Rear Motor chassis allowed, chassis may be special cut type oval chassis

  • Added weight must be inside the chassis rails, not on the side or under the chassis

Suspension
  • Independent suspension only

  • Aftermarket shocks and springs allowed

  • Limiting of shocks is allowed inside the shock

  • May change shock oil, shock pistons and springs

  • Springs: can be from any manufacturer, not OEM specific

  • Adjustable rear A arms are allowed

  • Aluminum Hub carriers are approved for competition front and rear

  • Brass inserts in the front and rear arms are allowed, any weight tungsten allowed on or inside chassis rail

Transmission
  • Mid or rear motor chassis with single speed transmissions only

  • May use gear or ball differentials

  • Drivetrain upgrades allowed (MIP, Proline, Slipper Eliminators allowed)

  • Any spur gear or pinion ration combination is allowed

Electronics
  • Electronics can be mounted on the left or right within main chassis plate only

  • Any 10.5T or higher wind 540-sized 2-pole open turn brushless motor is legal, sensored with any timing setting, cooling fans allowed

  • Any type of ESC, must be in blinky mode or not capable of timing advance

Battery
  • 7.4V or 7.6 LiHv / 2S LiPo Batteries, maximum charge voltage 8.60V

  • Battery must be mounted on right, left or centerline of chassis, laydown or standup position allowed

  • Any multi-channel radio system and steering servo is allowed

  • Steering servo may be center, left or right mounted on chassis

  • No AVC, GYRO or additional traction control devices allowed

Tires
  • Rubber Tires Only, any compound or combination is allowed

  • PWR will be open tire rule for Midwest Modified, must use 2.2” tires and wheels

Body
Spoiler
  • Spoiler maximum length: 1.5" including a max .250” wicker

  • Spoiler cannot be wider than center panel

  • No more than (2) spoiler center braces allowed

  • Center braces can be no larger than optional spoiler end caps.

  • End Caps cannot extend past end of side panel by more than .750” (Included in the Max Length of Body)

  • End Cap Size: Length 2.75" Height 1.5"

  • Height is area of End Cap above the rear deck.
